As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we wanted to share a recent meta-analysis exploring how acupuncture supports the emotional and hormonal well-being of patients with PCOS.

🔎The study, “Acupuncture improves anxiety and depression in patients with polycystic o***y syndrome: a systematic evaluation and meta-analysis”, was published in the January 2026 edition of Frontiers in Medicine. It reviewed multiple clinical trials investigating acupuncture’s impact on anxiety and depression symptoms in women with PCOS.

In addition, it shows how acupuncture is proven to be safe and effective for broader women's health issues, such as hormonal imbalances and even BMI and waist-to-hip ratio.

Traditional Chinese medicine recognizes that mental health and hormonal health are not separate, but very much intertwined. What we appreciate about this study is that it reflects what we see every day in our clinic: when we begin supporting the body more holistically, emotional health often shifts alongside physical symptoms and vice versa.💚

Constipation is one of the most common things we treat in clinic and it’s rarely as simple as “drink more water” or “eat more fiber.”

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, constipation isn’t just one condition.
It’s a pattern.

For some, it’s stress slowing everything down.
For others, it’s dryness, depletion, or a lack of digestive strength.
Which means the solution isn’t one-size-fits-all.

If you’ve been trying everything and still don’t feel regular, your body might not need more force, it might need a different kind of support.

We just shared a new blog breaking down:
• The 5 types of constipation in TCM
• What might be driving your symptoms
• Simple, natural ways to start supporting your digestion

🥨 🍫🥜 Are your snacks actually supporting your health or just filling the space between meals?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, snacking isn’t always a neutral habit. While it can be helpful in certain situations, constant grazing can weaken digestion over time, leading to symptoms like bloating, fatigue, cravings, or feeling unsatisfied no matter what you eat.

The goal isn’t to eliminate snacks altogether, but to become more intentional about them.

When chosen well, snacks can:
✨ support steady energy
✨ nourish your body between meals
✨ even help balance hormones and digestion

When chosen poorly (or eaten too frequently), they can do the opposite.

We shared a more nuanced perspective on snacking (along with simple, nourishing TCM snack ideas) in our latest blog.

If you’ve ever felt like your “healthy” habits aren’t quite working, this might offer a helpful shift.

For acute injuries like a sprained ankle, a traditional approach we sometimes use is a combination of cupping and bleeding. Using a sterile lancet, a few tiny pricks are made at specific points, then a cup is applied to gently draw out a small amount of fluid.

It might sound a little medieval… but there’s a reason this technique has stood the test of time:

✨ Helps reduce swelling
✨ Moves stagnant blood and fluids
✨ Speeds up recovery

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is all about restoring proper circulation so the body can heal more efficiently.

Have you ever tried cupping for an injury?

A recent article in the The Guardian highlighted how influencers are sharing Chinese health habits like drinking hot water, avoiding iced drinks, walking after meals, and going to bed before 11pm.

As TCM practitioners, we are totally on board! These are core TCM habits, but on social media they’re often presented as quick “health hacks.”

In reality, we’ve been recommending these tips to all our patients. They’re small pieces of a much deeper system of medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years – for over 20 years in our office. :)

Let’s look at the wisdom behind a few of these viral tips:

🍵 Avoiding cold drinks
In traditional Chinese medicine, digestion relies on warmth. Too many iced drinks can weaken digestive energy and contribute to bloating, fatigue, and sluggish metabolism.

💤 Going to bed earlier
TCM teaches that the body restores Liver blood during the night, especially between 11pm–3am which is an important window for hormone balance, detoxification, and emotional regulation.

🚶🏻‍♀️Walking after meals
A gentle walk helps support the movement of Qi, aiding digestion and helping prevent stagnation after eating.

These habits may be trending on social media right now but they’re rooted in a medical tradition that looks at sleep, digestion, stress, and hormones as deeply connected.

We love that ancient wisdom is finding its way into today’s online conversation.

Have you tried any of these habits?
Which one is your favorite and why?

🔥🐎 Happy Lunar New year and welcome to the Year of the Fire Horse!

2026 brings energy, creativity, optimism, and forward momentum. Fire Horse years tend to spark growth, bold ideas, and renewed confidence, but they can also amplify quick tempers, impulsiveness, inflammation, and burnout if we’re not mindful.

In Chinese medicine, strong Fire impacts the Heart and circulation and when Fire runs high, Water (Kidney/immune energy) needs extra support.

This is a year to:
✨ Move — but pace yourself
✨ Create — but stay grounded
✨ Build — but protect your reserves

We wrote a new blog sharing what the Fire Horse may mean for your health and well-being in 2026.
