PCOS is now being recognized as PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — a name that better reflects the full-body impact of this condition beyond just the ovaries.
From irregular periods, excess facial/body hair, acne, weight gain, insulin resistance, and hormonal imbalance to hair thinning, darkened skin patches (acanthosis nigricans), fatigue, mood changes, bloating, sugar cravings, sleep disturbances, inflammation, skin changes, metabolic shifts, and fertility challenges, PMOS affects far more than people once realized.
A shift in name, but more importantly, a shift in understanding women’s health!
