Dr. Rosenblum is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at New York Medical College.

He co-directs the Musculoskeletal Oncology and Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology programs. His clinical interests focus on the treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas and rare tumors.

Dr. Rosenblum serves on national committees seeking to advance cures in patients with relapsed osteosarcoma and rare tumors.

The presentation will describe projects using chimeric antigen receptor natural killer (CAR-NK) cells together with monoclonal antibodies, as well as a newly funded project modifying CAR-NK cells to be able to overcome the immunosuppressive osteosarcoma tumor microenvironment.

In honor of AYA Cancer Awareness Week, our 19-year-old patient CJ, who has recently completed treatment for B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL), has kindly shared how cancer has impacted him.

"Cancer is a dreadful experience, whether a friend, a loved one, or even yourself is affected. I was personally affected by leukemia and had to undergo treatment for over two years. This was a terrifying experience for me and my family. To start, I had to miss over a year of school and hardly got to see everyone I was used to seeing every day. Treatment also required a lot of medical expenses that were a struggle to pay. Although cancer was a huge burden on me and my family, it also came with many positives. One of those positives was the Josh DePew Pickle Ball tournament held for my family. This was a beautiful and very meaningful day. This was a fundraiser for me and my, at the time, recent struggles. It brought together all my friends and family for a fun day of pickleball. It also included many other events like raffles, vendors, food trucks and more. This was a fun day for everyone, but to me this meant much more. It showed how much support I truly had behind me. So, although there are many negatives with cancer and medical issues, many positives can also be drawn from these negatives."

✨ Aplastic Anemia Awareness Week – March 1 - 7 ✨

This week, we honor warriors like Livy — and all those affected by Aplastic Anemia — who remind us to cherish every moment, dream big, and stay brave. 💛

At just 7 years old, Olivia was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia, a rare and life-threatening blood disorder. Her family had never even heard of it before — but suddenly, everything changed. Olivia’s bone marrow had stopped producing the blood cells her body needed to survive, and she required frequent transfusions while her dedicated Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant team at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital quickly moved into action.

When no suitable donor match was found in the national registry, Olivia qualified for an innovative clinical trial at the hospital. She underwent a haploidentical bone marrow transplant and spent five months in the hospital bravely pushing through every challenge that came her way.

With unwavering trust in her extraordinary transplant team, Livy persevered — and today, she is 4 years posttransplant and thriving.

Now a vibrant survivor, Livy loves school, treasures her close friendships, and has returned to all the things that bring her joy. She absolutely lights up on stage and dreams of one day performing on Broadway. She loves trips into the city to see musicals, exploring new places, and embracing every “adventure” with her incredible zest for life.

Most beautifully, Livy has taken everything she learned during her illness and transformed it into a way of living — never taking a single second for granted, always dreaming big, and choosing a life that truly makes her happy.

Her journey is a powerful reminder of the resilience of children facing rare diseases and the importance of awareness, research, and compassionate care.
