Newly-elected Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens & Malik Brown joined HRC & local activists to recognize the surge of fatal violence facing the transgender community, especially trans women of color. The pledge not only recognizes the issue, but also calls for action to save lives.

This is an important step, especially now as anti-LGBTQ+ lawmakers across the country have been politically attacking trans kids and their rights. Georgia’s legislature is currently pushing a “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” bill, similar to the one passed Florida. Mayor Dickens is the most recent elected official to join this commitment to justice.
