Dr. Gillian O'Shea Brown ⚡️PSYCHE’S AWAKENING: A Guide to Emotional & Somatic Healing Through the Wisdom of Greek Myth⚡️Releasing Sept 2026

05/22/2026

There’s a moment on the healing journey when you stop running from your pain and finally turn to face it.

Not to relive it. Not to be defined by it. But to look at it one last time and let it go.

Because your wounds don’t have to be the end of your story. They can be the very thing that deepens your humanity, your compassion, and your capacity to love.

Every setback brought you closer to yourself. Every painful experience held the potential for transformation. The adversity that jolted you out of comfort? It contributed to the richness and complexity of who you are today.

That is Chiron’s gift , the wounded healer, reminding you that your greatest strength lives inside your deepest wounds.

But only if you’re willing to look at them one last time before letting them go. If this resonated, there is so much more waiting for you. Psyche’s Awakening is available for pre-order now — link in bio. 🔖

You can only accept the love you belief you deserve - early lessons in learning to love and be loved are shaped by our parents.

Many of us carry unconscious patterns from early relationships with our parents that quietly shape how we feel, trust, connect, and move through the world. These wounds often live deep within the inner world, influencing our relationships, self-worth, emotional responses, and sense of safety.

A mother wound may show up as difficulty trusting yourself, people-pleasing, over-caring for others, feeling unseen, or struggling to express your own needs.

A father wound may show up as seeking approval, fear of failure, difficulty trusting your decisions, struggling with boundaries, over-achieving, or feeling disconnected from your own confidence and power.

Healing begins with awareness.
Not blame. Not shame.
But understanding the patterns with compassion.

When we connect with the inner child within us, we begin to notice what they needed but may not have received — reassurance, protection, emotional safety, validation, or unconditional love. And slowly, we learn how to offer some of that back to ourselves. 🤍

You don’t have a negativity problem.
You have a pattern your brain learned to repeat.

When your mind loops worry or worst-case scenarios, it’s not a flaw—
it’s familiarity.

Your brain strengthens what you return to.
Every repeated thought becomes: this matters, keep going.

But patterns can shift.

Even 60 seconds of intentional appreciation
creates a new signal.
That small feeling of warmth? That’s your brain noticing something different.

You’re not wired for negativity.
You practiced it.

And what’s practiced can be rewired.

Swipe to try the 60-second reset →

Medusa is often cast as an iconic femme fatale, embodying both beauty and danger in one mythical creature. But a closer read of this story reveals that to Medusa, her body was no longer hers. Fresh from the carnage of the double assault, Medusa is deeply alone and mourning the loss of the person she was before. Medusa’s humanity is obscured by the label of monster, which others unfairly bestow upon her. In its essence, the story of Medusa is a story of the stigma and shame associated with r**e, a heavy burden often carried by the victim rather than the perpetrator in the aftermath of the intrusion trauma. Similar to the plight of many sexual abuse survivors, Medusa endured a private violation followed by repeated incidents of public shaming and alienation.

Unresolved trauma lingers in the body long after the threat has passed — rising up as a reaction, not a memory. It can make your own body feel like a source of pain, shame, and intrusion rather than a home.

But here’s what Medusa never got the chance to know:

Your path can be different. You can rebuild your sense of self. You can reclaim your narrative.

That’s the work. And it’s possible.

✨ I go deep into Medusa’s story and what it mirrors for trauma survivors — in my upcoming book Psyche’s Awakening. If this resonated, preorder details are in my bio.

I’ve always been drawn to Greek mythology, not just for the stories, but for what they reveal about us.
These myths were early attempts to understand love, loss, longing, and transformation.

In Psyche’s Awakening, I explore these ancient myths through a modern psychological lens—using them as both mirrors and maps for your own growth.
Because the real hero’s journey isn’t about conquering something outside of you…
it’s about transforming what lives within.
If this speaks to you, I invite you to preorder Psyche’s Awakening, this work is deeply personal to me, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Neuroplasticity is your brain’s ability to rewire itself through experience, repetition, and learning.

Your brain is not fixed, it’s constantly adapting to what you consistently practice.

Most people quit during phase 3 (repetition)
right before the brain fully strengthens a new neural pathway.

That’s the moment it still feels hard.
That’s the moment it doesn’t feel natural yet.
That’s the moment it’s easiest to go back to old patterns.

But if you stay consistent, your brain will eventually do what it’s designed to do,
make the new behavior your default.

Change isn’t magic. It’s your brain learning a new way.

Start flowing. ✨

Alignment is where clarity begins. It’s in those first quiet moments of your morning… the choices you make throughout the day… what feels expansive vs. what feels draining. It’s in what you choose to hold space for and what you gently release.

It shows up in your words and your body. Small, intentional shifts can completely change how you move through your day.

If this resonates, I’d love to have you join my newsletter, where I share deeper insights, supportive practices, and ways to stay grounded, aligned, and connected to yourself.

Overthinking isn’t a flaw in your personality… it’s a misdirection of your energy.

The ancient Greeks understood that a peaceful mind doesn’t come from controlling everything—it comes from knowing what actually belongs to you.

This is the foundation of Ataraxia: a state of being undisturbed, not because life is perfect, but because your energy is no longer entangled in what you cannot control.

When you begin to separate what is yours from what is not, the mind softens.

The pressure eases.
And clarity returns.

Try this tonight:
Write down 3 things you overthought today.
Label each one: Circle 1, 2, or 3.

You may find that most of your energy has been living in the wrong place.

And that awareness… is where everything begins to shift.
