A tightening jaw. A knot in your stomach. Before you’ve found words for what you’re feeling, your body is already responding.

What becomes possible when we learn to listen?

Many of us have learned to value thinking over sensing and to push past discomfort. We rarely learn to turn toward the body as a source of wisdom or a place of refuge.

Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, October 15th, join Jill Satterfield, a pioneer in bringing together somatic awareness and meditation, for “The Body’s Mind,” a four-week online course exploring how awareness of the body can deepen our meditation practice and help us work with difficult emotions.

Drawing on the Buddha’s teachings on the mind-body connection, we’ll practice recognizing the early signs of anxiety, anger, or fear, creating more room to respond before familiar reactions take over. We’ll also explore how to support nervous system regulation within meditation and cultivate kindness toward ourselves and others.

The future of Dharma is in good hands 🙏

Last weekend we were honored to bear witness to a remarkable group of young adults who shared the stage with Dan Harris , Sharon Salzberg , and Joseph Goldstein. We're deeply inspired by the wisdom, thoughtfulness, and clarity they brought to the conversation.

At NY Insight Meditation, we believe in giving the next generation of practitioners and leaders a voice, a spotlight, and a place to grow.

Next weekend, we’re continuing that commitment. Join us for our Young Adult Open House & Brunch on Sunday, October 18, from 2:30–4:30pm and come get to know the NY Insight community. Visit our website for more special get to know us programming!

Come practice. Come connect. Come see what’s possible at NYI. ✨

Young Adult Sangha, your future is now!

The stress and anxiety we’re all feeling these days is taking a huge toll on our individual and collective mental and physical wellbeing.

The need for consistent and effective self-care is now greater than ever.

The Japanese healing arts of Shiatsu and Meridian-Based Movement are easily adaptable for self-care use and very easy to learn. Used regularly, they are very effective in helping with stress reduction, pain management, calming the nervous system, relaxing the mind and body, as well as providing tools for self assessment.

In this new class led by Taoist healing practitioner Darryl Aiken-Afam on Sunday, November 1st, 2026 from 1pm – 3pm, you’ll develop the skills to perform self Shiatsu techniques and learn the location and function of acupoints to calm your system, improve your health and reduce muscular tension.

Are you in your 40s and 50s and thinking about the second half of your life?

Midlife can arrive with a lot at once: menopause, greying hair, childcare, eldercare, career shifts, an empty nest, profound loss, or unexpected new beginnings. But it also comes with a depth of lived experience we simply did not have in our earlier years.
And while our culture often frames this period as a time of crisis, it can also be a powerful doorway into clarity, meaning, and renewed purpose.

This popular 5-month course with New York Insight Teacher Lin Wang Gordon, beginning on Sunday, September 13th, we will explore health, career, money, family, relationships, and the gifts that come with this time of life. Join us for one Saturday a month for meditation practice, journaling, buddy groups, and shared reflection to help deepen insight and build community.
