WATERMELON SHAVED ICE 🍉✨

never underestimate the deliciousness of simple snacks, my kids have been asking for this on repeat + it’s perfect for summer ☀️

YOU NEED
(use organic ingredients when possible)

* watermelon, frozen
* optional: lime juice

WHAT TO DO

- cut watermelon in half, then place face down and make about 5 slices across + turn to make 5 additional slices
- do this for both halves
- take some of the squares of watermelon, place on a parchment lined baking sheet + freeze until solid, about 6+ hours (i leave them in overnight)
- when ready, grate desired amount of watermelon over a bowl
- optional: squeeze some lime juice on top

pro tip: use a towel to hold the end when grating, it gets very cold 🥶

HOMEMADE REMINERALIZING TOOTH POWDER 🦷✨

most people know to avoid conventional toothpaste ingredients, but even many “natural” options can contain synthetic remineralizers, preservatives, foaming agents, sweeteners, sugar alcohols, harsh abrasives + synthetic flavorings

so skip the store + make your own instead with 6 simple ingredients

YOU NEED

* 1/4 c calcium bentonite clay (i use )
* 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 1/8 tsp real salt (i use )
* 1 1/2 tsp of ceylon cinnamon
* 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
* optional: 6 drops peppermint essential oil

WHAT TO DO

- whisk all the ingredients, except the essential oil, in a glass bowl
- if you are adding essential oils, add them directly to the top of the powder mixture + whisk well to combine

store in a small glass jar

TO USE

- wet your toothbrush, shake off excess water + then gently press the toothbrush into the powder (pro tip: you don’t want too much, a little goes a long way)
- brush the powder into your gums and teeth

THE EASIEST WAY TO SLICE A WATERMELON 🍉✨

cutting a watermelon can be a little cumbersome + messy, so here’s an easy way to do it that also isn’t a mess to clean up. perfect for all those upcoming summer bbqs ☀️🙌🏻

bonus: it’s less messy to eat it this way too, especially for kids

COLD BREW + ELECTROLYTES ✨

this coconut cold brew is so full of flavor + has the perfect amount of subtle sweetness

plus the benefit of electrolytes ⚡️⚡️⚡️

YOU NEED
(use organic ingredients when possible)

* 3 c coconut water
* 1 c ground coffee of choice

WHAT TO DO

- combine coconut water and ground coffee, shake + let steep in the fridge for 18 hours
- strain
- pour over ice, add your favorite creamer + enjoy

pro tips:

- i wouldn’t necessarily consider this a concentrate, but it’s strong - i like strong coffee, but if you don’t, simply water it down with some additional coconut water or filtered water, to taste
- i drink decaf so don’t have to worry about overdoing the caffeine, but keep the caffeine content in mind if you choose caffeinated coffee

HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE SYRUP ✨

recipe below, but COMMENT “STAPLES” + i’ll send it straight to your inbox along with 4 of my other popular kitchen staples to get you started 🙌🏻

skip the high fructose corn syrup, potassium sorbate, mono- and diglycerides, polysorbate 60 + other additives and make your own chocolate syrup with 5 simple ingredients you likely already have on hand!

YOU NEED
(use organic ingredients when possible)

* 1/3 c hot water, filtered
* 1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1/3 c maple syrup
* 1/2 tsp vanilla
* 3 dashes of sea salt

WHAT TO DO

- add everything to a mason jar + shake to combine

store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, it’ll thicken once refrigerated

for chocolate milk: 2-3 tbsp per 8 oz of milk, depending how chocolatey you like it 🍫

you can also use it as an ice cream topping 🍨, or add to your coffee for a healthier mocha ☕️!

HOMEMADE RITZ CRACKERS ✨

skip the seed oil, high fructose corn syrup + w**d killer and make your own ritz crackers with ingredients you likely already have on hand!

YOU NEED
(use organic ingredients when possible)

* 1 c all purpose flour
* 1/2 tsp sea salt
* 4 tbsp cold, salted butter cut into 1/2” pieces
* 1 tbsp honey
* 2 tbsp cold water
* optional: flakey salt for sprinkling
* egg wash: one egg, beaten

WHAT TO DO

- preheat oven to 400 + line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- add the flour, sea salt + butter into food processor and pulse until small balls form
- next add the honey, then slowly add in the water until mixed
- form a ball, then on a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8” thickness
- use the cracker cutter to cut out the crackers + use a toothpick or skewer to poke 7-8 holes in each one
- line up on parchment paper about 1/2” apart, brush evenly with the egg wash + sprinkle with flakey salt if you want
- take the extra dough, form into a ball and roll to 1/8” thickness and repeat the steps above
- bake about 8-10 minutes until golden

let cool, then store in an airtight container up to a week

your kids will love these (+ so will you)!

WATERMELON FRUIT ROLL-UPS 🍉✨

these are THE perfect summer treat ☀️

YOU NEED
(use organic ingredients when possible)

* 9 c cubed watermelon
* 1 tbsp lime juice
* 1 tbsp honey

WHAT TO DO

- preheat oven to 170 degrees fahrenheit
- add watermelon to a blender + blend until smooth
- strain using fine mesh strainer and a cheesecloth (save the juice + enjoy as a refreshing summer bevvy)
- take the pulp, add in the lime juice and honey + stir
- pour evenly over parchment lined 9x13 baking sheet
- bake until no longer sticky, about 6 hours - after 3 hours, check every hour
- let it cool, cut into strips + roll

store in an airtight container

HOMEMADE GUMMY BEARS ✨

some gummy bears can contain 19 ingredients, including corn syrup, artificial colors and fake flavors. even the organic ones have around 13 and contain seed oils. so skip the store bought options + make your own with 3 simple ingredients!

YOU NEED

* 2 c juice of choice
* 3 scoops grass fed gelatin
* 1/8 c to 1/4 c honey (optional, you can add more or less to taste)

WHAT TO DO

- add juice to the pot
- sprinkle gelatin over the top and let bloom for a few minutes
- stir, add the honey + warm over medium heat until fully dissolved
- let it cool for about 15 minutes before adding to molds, making sure to stir occasionally
- set in the fridge for a couple of hours, then remove from molds + store in airtight container in the fridge

these last up to 2 weeks, but your kids will eat these much quicker!

a few tips:

- use organic juice with one ingredient (ie apple juice with just apples)
- avoid citrus as it can affect the gelatin
- if you don’t have molds, pour into a glass baking dish and cut into squares once set

health benefits:

in addition to being great for gut health, grass fed gelatin is good for your skin, supports your joints and helps with inflammation, metabolism, healthy brain function + sleep
