Nobody tells you this part about rebuilding trust. 🤝
Most people think trust comes back through one big conversation. One apology. One breakthrough moment. It doesn’t. And researcher Brené Brown’s data — drawn from thousands of coded interviews — proves it.
Two — make only the promises you can keep. Every kept promise is a data point. Every broken one resets the counter.
Three — if you were hurt, your reactions are not manipulation. Betrayal trauma produces symptoms resembling PTSD. The questioning. The checking. That is your nervous system surviving. Not weakness.
Four — do not rush forgiveness. Premature forgiveness before grief is processed typically doesn’t hold. Forgiveness and trust are separate processes. Neither can be scheduled.
You can heal. That part is documented. đź”–
