For more than 21 years, Dr. Wassim D. has dedicated his career to caring for patients and shaping the next generation of physicians at Staten Island University Hospital.

Whether he's mentoring residents or caring for patients, what motivates him most is seeing the difference he makes. Many of the residents he has trained choose to stay at the hospital, continuing the culture of learning and collaboration that first inspired them.

As Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine, he believes medicine is about more than treating illness—it's about investing in people.

"I love Northwell!" 💙

Abby talks so much about Northwell and her pediatric hematologist, Dr. Romanos-Sirakis, that when she started at a new school, her teacher had to ask who Dr. Romanos was and what bloodwork meant!

As an autistic patient receiving care for iron deficiency, Abby loves visiting her care team and always feels welcome, comfortable and supported.

The feeling is mutual, our team looks forward to seeing Abby just as much as she looks forward to seeing us!
