Five of Northwell Health’s cardiothoracic programs earned prestigious three-star overall quality ratings, the highest quality measures given in several surgical categories, in the most recent Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) quality report.

⭐ Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital achieved a three-star quality rating in all six surgical categories for the third consecutive time, singularly received in New York State.

⭐ South Shore University Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Staten Island University Hospital, and Danbury Hospital each earned multiple three-star ratings across the six categories.

While IBD Awareness Day was recognized on May 19, awareness doesn’t stop there.

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are chronic inflammatory bowel diseases that can have a major impact on a person’s everyday life. Dr. Mikhail, a gastroenterologist, discusses the differences between the two conditions, symptoms to watch for, and how advances in care are helping patients manage IBD and improve quality of life.

The more we talk about IBD, the more we can help people feel seen, supported and empowered to seek care.
