on Thank you CoolNES® for sending both a sun drape for my hat and a silicone nose guard, both useful additions to my collection of outdoor gear. Was able to try out while kayaking last week. According to the packaging, the drape can also be worn in the opposite direction with the straps over the ears to protect the face. The nose guard came in a package of 4 so I gave one each to 2 friends who are prone to sunburns on the nose while fishing and boating (a common spot for sunburns and basal cell carcinoma). And both will be easy to pack for sunnier climates this winter.

MARATHON DU MEDOC PARTICIPANT POST EVENT SURVEY - super quick and it’s for my bestie and team captain’s master’s thesis at Waseda University School of Sports Sciences in Tokyo. For those who know me, this is the friend who gets me to challenge myself on sporty events from this one to trail runs to hyrox and most recently that insane 65k walk in Hokkaido (I survived half!). She’s studying the experience value that makes the Marathon du Medoc an event people return to year after year. PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU RAN OR WALKED PART OR ALL OF THIS YEAR’s MARATHON DU MEDOC. 👉🔗link in bio

THANK YOU!

FOR MARATHON DU MEDOC RUNNERS & WALKERS 🏃🏼🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️Congratulations! ✨✨ IMPORTANT: If we missed you in person after the finish line, please consider answering this very brief POST EVENT survey (different than the pre-event survey) about what you enjoyed about the event. The data is anonymous and will be used for my team captain’s master’s thesis at Waseda University School of Sports Sciences in Tokyo. 👩‍🎓(FYI this was her 15th marathon du medoc!) You can still fill it now out on your way home while the event is fresh in your mind. 🤔

We got more than 200 responses to the pre-event survey in English, French and Japanese! We already have over 100 to the post event survey and additional data would be helpful. 🙌

Your participation is appreciated! 🙏

Make the most of your products. I’ve tried emptying one plastic lotion bottle by standing it upside down on top of another but it takes forever. Instead, CAREFULLY, cut the bottle with a box cutter or mini-saw and scoop the leftover lotion or cream out with a knife or spatula into another partial bottle or a travel container. I often add it to a pricy fragranced lotion to extend its use and improve its moisturizing effect.

I am selling my bib for the 40th Anniversary Marathon du Medoc, Sept 6, 2026 because I’m injured and can’t run. This would have been my 10th time running half the course - that means stopping for w**e at 9-10 of the more than 20 chateaux on the full course, including Chateau Lafitte Rothschild! It’s a fantastic festive event with costumes (this year’s theme is ‘the 80s), floats, solo and team runners and walkers starting and ending in Pauillac Bordeaux. Finishers get a bottle of bordeaux w**e, cool theme bag, and medal. Top runners get 12 cases of bordeaux. It’s a tough bib to get - this year bibs sold out in minutes in both rounds. DM me if interested in purchasing.

Part 3 of 3: As my thoughts about the 65k walk from Asahikawa to Furano continued to evolve, so did the muscle spasm in my hip flexors and lower back. Not painful but definitely stiff. So what did I do? I decided I was done at ~ 32k, texted the organizer, got a ride to Furano, where I promptly took ibuprofen (anti inflammatory) and va**um (muscle relaxant) and slapped on an XL icy hot patch (topical menthol). Felt fine by morning! I’ve decided that, going forward, i’ll work on improving my 21k and under performance before attempting longer. No surprise my bestie completed the full walk bc she’s already done similar length walks as well as 50k trail runs. She suggests stuff and I’m happy to try - honestly I just don’t think about it and just say yes - challenge is good for me and I don’t compare myself to anyone. Helpful mindset as I watched the over 70+ year old Japanese folks who made it look like strolling holding umbrellas as they continued onward 😜
