What a difference a decade makes.

White, MD, MBA, MS, FACG), and Rainbows in Gastro 🌈 leadership Nikki Duong (Nikki Duong)and Laura Targownik, we are grateful for the opportunity from the The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology (The Lancet Group) to speak about the U.S. perspective of how far diversity, equity, and inclusion have come in the field of GI and hepatology, and how much more critical and strategic work is needed in the field for the better for our patients and those healthcare professionals who are vested in their well-being.
It takes a village — community leaders, nonprofit organizations, industry, national societies, institutional leadership, and government — to make diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging a reality. And the added riches are the impact we see on the quality of healthcare provided, and how our patients stand to benefit from it.
We sincerely hope the next decade continues to show the advances that we’ve witnessed and been a part of, and with even more vigor and passion.
