! We’re celebrating LGBTQ+ month and reaffirming our commitment to providing compassionate care for people of all identities.

That commitment is especially important given the disproportionate impact homelessness and housing insecurity have on LGBTQ+ communities. No one should have to choose between being themselves and having access to healthcare, housing, or support. We remain committed to creating welcoming spaces where every person can access the care they need and deserve.

is about more than celebration. It’s about ensuring every person has the opportunity to live with health, stability, and dignity. Join us in supporting that mission. It’s easier to help us now than ever — text CFTH26 to 41444.

After years of experiencing homelessness and the shelter system, Bertram is rebuilding his health, stability, and future. With our support, he was able to focus on securing housing AND improving his physical well-being, two things that are deeply connected on the journey toward long-term stability.

“Because I got healthier, I became stable,” explains Bertram.

is a critical part of ending episodes of homelessness. Through integrated services where people already access support, we help New Yorkers experiencing homelessness build pathways toward wellness, dignity, and independence. Bertram’s story is a powerful reminder that when people have access to consistent care, support, and opportunity, healing becomes possible. By prioritizing his health, he gained the strength, confidence, and stability needed to move forward and begin a new chapter.

As winds down, we’re highlighting the importance of emotional wellness and the power of spaces where women feel seen, heard, and supported. During Open Mics at our shelters, people come together to express themselves through poetry, music, storytelling, and art, often finding healing, confidence, and community along the way.

Supporting women’s health means caring for the whole person. That includes creating environments where creativity, confidence, dignity, and community can flourish alongside healthcare and housing support. We’re proud to provide a space that not only takes a unique approach to combining housing and healthcare but also offers recreational wellness activities that support people on their journey toward stability.

Help us continue creating spaces where healing, connection, and support can thrive for women experiencing homelessness across New York City. Support our work today by texting CFTH26 to 41444.

We travelled to Albany with as part of our campaign to meet with legislators and advocate for two critical bills: the Homeless Protection Act (HPA) and the Homelessness Non-Discrimination Act (HONDA).

is one of 30 organizations across New York working in coalition to pass these bills, which aim to strengthen protections for people experiencing homelessness, combat discrimination and violence, and ensure greater accountability across systems that too often fail vulnerable New Yorkers.

Thank you to Assemblymember and for championing this important campaign. Thank you to every office that took the time to meet with us!

For someone living on the street, managing a chronic illness isn’t as simple as taking medication on time. How do you refrigerate insulin without a refrigerator? How do you stay healthy when survival comes first?

That’s why healthcare and housing cannot be separated. We provide integrated healthcare service that are directly embedded within our shelters. This unique approach sets us apart and is essential so that people have access to care and long-term support in one place. Because when healthcare is combined with housing and stability, people are better able to heal, recover, and move beyond homelessness.

The future of healthcare for people experiencing homelessness matters. As communities face rising homelessness and increasingly complex health needs, the conversation is no longer about whether specialized healthcare models are necessary, but how they can evolve, scale, and integrate into broader systems of care.

We'll discuss these matters at Spring Policy Webinar on Wednesday, May 20 at 1:30 PM via Zoom, featuring moderator Jeff Olivet and panelists Dr. Helen Arteaga, Dr. Barbara DiPietro, Dr. Margot Kushel, and CFH Advocate Will Woods as they discuss what comes next for healthcare and systems of support for people experiencing homelessness.

Isaac and his parents, Jon and Orquidia, organized a Mario Kart fundraiser at Uptown Gaming Bar in NYC last weekend in support of Care For the Homeless.

Thanks to overwhelming support from attendees and donors, the fundraiser exceeded its original goal by 190%, raising nearly $1,000 to help support our work! Events like this not only raise critical funds, but also help spark conversations, strengthen community ties, and raise awareness around the reality of homelessness in NYC.

Thank you Isaac, Jon, Orquidia, Uptown Gaming Bar, and every person who contributed to the success of this fundraiser. It was a great night! Interested in organizing a fundraiser or community event in support of Care For the Homeless? Learn more: https://www.careforthehomeless.org/ways-to-give/

Yesterday, we traveled to Albany to advocate for , a campaign fighting for dignity, protection, and justice for New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.

We met with legislators to advocate for two critical bills: the Homeless Protection Act (HPA) and the Homelessness Non-Discrimination Act (HONDA). Together, these bills aim to strengthen protections for people experiencing homelessness, combat discrimination and violence, and ensure greater accountability across systems that too often fail vulnerable New Yorkers. This work is grounded in the leadership and lived experiences of people who have experienced homelessness themselves — and we’re proud to stand alongside them in the fight for lasting change.

Thank you, to Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal and Senator Luis R. Sepúlveda for championing this important campaign. Thank you to every office that took the time to meet with us. We look forward to continuing to work with you to fight for this critical legislation.

For people experiencing homelessness, mental health support often comes last, behind finding a place to sleep, a meal, or a moment of safety. But untreated mental health challenges can't wait. They make it harder to stay healthy, to access care, and to move towards stability.

Last year, we delivered care to more than 12,000 adults and children experiencing homelessness, including behavioral healthcare. Through our unique model, we provide mental and behavioral support at our community healthcare centers and shelters, offering services on the spot.

This , you can help make that care possible. Donate, start a fundraiser, or share our work: https://www.careforthehomeless.org/get-involved/
