Therapy changes your brain. Neuroplasticity isn’t just a concept we talk about in session. It’s measurable. We can help you see it happen.

Through qEEG brain mapping, we can capture a snapshot of your brain before you begin a therapy and another after, so you can see the shift alongside what you’re already feeling.

This isn’t a replacement for therapy. It’s a way to add scientific insight to the work you’re already doing with us.

Already working with one of our clinicians? Ask about brain mapping at your next session.

Nobody told me what healing actually looks like.

I used to think it would feel like a breakthrough. A moment where everything clicked and the weight just lifted. But most of the time it’s quieter than that. It’s your shoulders dropping half an inch without you noticing. It’s realizing you got through something hard without bracing for impact the whole time.

That’s the work. Slowly. Exhale by exhale. Your body learning it’s safe to let go and move forward.

Somatic work doesn’t ask you to talk your way through it. It meets you in the body, where the tension has actually been living the whole time, not just in the story you tell about it. Therapy, done this way, isn’t about reliving what happened. It’s about giving your nervous system new information: that the alert is over, that you’re safe now, that you don’t have to carry this the same way anymore.

If this sounds like what you’ve been needing, we’re here for it.

Meet Emily Porto: a space to slow down, be honest, and actually be understood. 🤍

Emily is a counseling intern at Cognitive Reset Counseling who believes therapy should be a place where you can reconnect with the parts of yourself that got pushed aside while you were just trying to keep up.

She works with people navigating emotional exhaustion, anxiety, self-doubt, difficult relationships, and life transitions, meeting each experience with curiosity, empathy, and genuine care.

Her approach is honest and grounded. She balances warmth with gentle insight and holds understanding as the foundation of the work. She believes you deserve to feel safe enough to actually be real.

Emily is currently completing her Master's in Mental Health Counseling at NYU and holds a B.A. in Psychology with a Cognitive Neuroscience minor from Rutgers University–Newark, where she also researched the intersections of psychology and neuroscience.

She provides services under clinical supervision at Cognitive Reset Counseling.

Growth doesn't always look like a breakthrough. Sometimes it's a pause, a breath, a moment of choosing differently even when it still hurts.
As a therapist and neuroscience-trained clinician in Brooklyn, I see this constantly: people who are actively healing but can't recognize it because it doesn't match what they thought healing was supposed to look like.

Here are 6 signs your nervous system is doing exactly what it's meant to do — even when your mind hasn't caught up yet. Save this for the days it doesn't feel like enough. You are doing better than you think.

Most people have heard of EMDR. Far fewer have heard of Brainspotting. Here’s why I chose it as my lead clinical modality. 🖤

Both are trauma-focused, brain-body approaches that work below the level of talk therapy. Both are evidence-based. But Brainspotting doesn’t follow a structured protocol — it follows you.

Your eye position. Your body sensations. Your nervous system’s own map to where the activation is held.
For clients who have tried everything and still feel stuck — this is often what was missing.

We offer Brainspotting at Cognitive Reset Counseling in NYC and via telehealth. Link in bio to learn more or book a consultation.

💾 Send this to someone who keeps asking what the difference is.
