Congratulations to Taylor Knibb for her victory in Kona at the 2026 Ironman World Championships. We’ve been predicting this victory for years now. After challenging past championship races she survived a race that saw for champions Lucy Charles Barkley bow out and Solveig Lovseth falter 2k from the finish. Her splits were 52:55 for 2.4 mile swim, 4:40:07 for 112 mile bike ride, and 2:57:46 for her marathon. Incredible. Bravo to all the finishers. Special shout out to Lovseth for gritting it out and finishing 8th. I love that the race has both the men and the women racing together again.

Congratulations to Vincent Luis on his surprising Kona debut victory at the 2026 Men’s Ironman World Championships in 7:47:27 with a 48:30 for 2.4 mile swim, 4:15:41 for 112 bike, and a 2:38:35 marathon. I love this race.

Terrible news for Berlin Marathon Champion Tigst Assefa. It looked like an Achilles tendon injury while I saw her running that final mile. While we don’t know the degree of rupture, any level of tear is incredibly painful to run on. A minimally invasive/percutaneus primary end-to-end repair with non-absorbable suture is the usual treatment. She’s looking at 9-12 months before any return to racing. I wish her well. She’s a great racer, and a great champion.

Congratulations to Guys Adola for his victory in the Berlin Marathon today. What a time we live in when a 2:02 winning time just seems like a solid run after all the record breaking runs of the past few years. Still the 13th fastest ever.
