Smoking and surgery don’t go well together. Smoking causes the blood vessels in the skin to tighten. This will impede blood flow to healing tissues and can markedly increase the risk of complications such as poor wound healing. In breast surgery this can even cause the ni***es to die! So if you smoke (or bale) tell your doctor and take their advice regarding when to quit!

Back in Albany talking to legislators with the New York State Society of Plastic Surgeons. The budget hasn’t passed yet and there’s still some issues on the table that could radically change patients access to care. Doing what we can to explain to lawmakers what the practice of medicine is really like in New York and what needs to be done to allow us to keep doing what we do.

Does it matter when in your menstrual cycle that you undergo breast reduction surgery? Turns out the answer is no. According to a recent study there’s no increased risk of complications no matter what time of the month you schedule it for!
