There is a cure for Hep C, and we fought to make sure Amida Care members can access it. We were among the first Medicaid managed care health plans to facilitate access to a life-saving Hep C cure before it was covered by Medicaid, and advocate for it. To date over 2,000 of our members have been cured of Hep C.

However, millions of people unknowingly live with viral hepatitis without experiencing any symptoms.

Getting tested is the best way to protect your health! This , pay a visit to your nearest testing site: https://www.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/hepatitis-c.page

Black and African American communities face rates of Hepatitis C (HCV) twice as high as the general population.

The good news is that a cure exists. Amida Care was among the first Medicaid managed care health plans to facilitate access to a life-saving Hep C cure before it was covered by Medicaid, and advocate for its access. To date over 2,000 of our members have been cured of Hep C!

Now, it’s up to all of us to raise awareness about HCV, combat stigma, and encourage people to access testing and treatment resources. Too many people living with Hep C are unaware of their infection; find your nearest testing and treatment site: https://on.nyc.gov/4uUgEm8

We can end the HIV epidemic, but only if we protect the care infrastructure that makes progress possible.

That means defending Medicaid, fully funding HIV prevention and treatment, strengthening Community Health Centers, protecting housing supports, and safeguarding LGBTQ+ healthcare.
As covered by Gay City News, we joined New York advocates to bring that message to Congress because the stakes are too high to stay silent. As HIV cases rise and healthcare access faces new threats, lawmakers must act to protect the programs and providers our communities rely on.

"Trans people deserve to live under equality, freedom, and authenticity. We will not let laws erase us from public life. We will not let them make us ashamed of the journey we have taken." – Chris Kalcich (he/him), Executive Director, Fairness Pennsylvania and Vice President, Pennsylvania Young Democrats

Chris Kalcich has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and progressive causes for more than a decade. He currently serves as Vice President of the Pennsylvania Young Democrats and is the Executive Director of Fairness Pennsylvania, a statewide LGBTQIA+ advocacy organization.

Kalcich was only the second openly transgender individual to hold public elected office in Pennsylvania (Selinsgrove Borough Council), and the first to hold party leadership. As Chair of the Snyder County Democratic Committee from 2021 to May 2026, he helped oversee local party organization and engagement efforts at the county level. In 2024, he was named to Inside PA’s 30 Under 30 list in recognition of his advocacy and public service work.
