The reason I have a private practice today and feel so confident in my skill set is because of the incredible training and teamwork I experienced while working at NYULMC early on in my career. I have such strong, lovely memories of my coworkers in the therapy departments there. As this situation develops, I think of them often and wonder how they are handling the long days and the fear. Many people don't know that a therapy team would see Covid19+ patients, but they are. They are the ones trying to get these patients back to their old selves, back to their normal functioning so that they can go home. They work on basic daily functions like walking, eating, talking, etc. They are instrumental to going back home safely and healthy. They are on the frontlines and continuously being exposed to this virus. They have gotten sick, healed and gone back to work to be there for these patients. At Indy Speech Services we are working with our old friends Julia Vila and Alyssa Malchi Kane, also former therapist at NYU to raise funds for hot meals for our coworkers. It is a small, small token of our appreciation towards them but every token counts right now. We ask that you donate, even if it's $5 for a hot sandwich, so that we can show them that we thank them and we support them, every day.
