Carl Jung's work focused on the process of individuation—the lifelong development of becoming more fully oneself.

His quote reminds us that personal growth is not necessarily about changing who we are. It can also involve understanding ourselves more deeply and living more authentically.

This perspective continues to influence modern psychology and psychotherapy today.

In psychology, rest and avoidance can sometimes look similar on the surface. Both involve stepping away from a task, responsibility, or stressor.

The difference is often in the outcome.

Rest tends to restore energy and support re-engagement. Avoidance may provide temporary relief but often makes difficult situations feel larger over time.

Learning to distinguish between the two can improve self-awareness and decision-making.

Have you noticed the difference in your own life?

Carl Rogers, one of the most influential psychologists of the 20th century, believed that meaningful change begins with acceptance.

This doesn't mean giving up.

It means acknowledging where you are without judgment so you can move forward with greater clarity.

It's the beginning of it.

Sometimes what feels like problem-solving is actually rumination.

Rumination is the tendency to repeatedly think about a problem without moving toward a solution.

Research has linked rumination to increased anxiety, stress, and depression.

One question can help create awareness: "Am I solving something, or replaying something?"

Save this for the next time your mind won't let something go.

Stress and burnout are often used interchangeably, but research suggests they are distinct experiences.

Stress is typically characterized by over-engagement, urgency, and feeling overwhelmed.

Burnout is more often associated with emotional exhaustion, detachment, reduced motivation, and a sense of depletion.

Recognizing the difference can help individuals respond more effectively to their needs rather than assuming they simply need to "try harder."
