Kangaroo care, also known as skin-to-skin contact, helps NICU babies regulate heart rate, breathing, temperature and bonding, while also supporting parent connection and infant development.

Last month, our NICU team celebrated those benefits with a week long “Kangaroo-A-Thon,” which helped encourage families to take part in kangaroo care while tracking milestones like the smallest baby kangaroo’d, highest level of respiratory support and more.

To help spread awareness, our very own Bobby Mele, DNP, MBA, NNP-BC brought out his finest kangaroo outfit (naturally).

Last but certainly not least, shoutout to Sarah Triolo, NP, and her newborn daughter for helping us capture this special initiative in action one day before returning home safe and sound!

We’re proud to announce that Lenox Hill Hospital is one of the 15 Northwell Health hospitals to earn a top ‘A’ rating for patient safety according to a report released by The Leapfrog Group for spring 2026!

The Leapfrog Group’s biannual grades are widely regarded as a trusted benchmark for consumers and health care professionals. An "A" grade indicates excellence in hospital safety across multiple measures, including staffing levels, infection prevention, hand hygiene compliance and responsiveness to critical events.

From being born at Lenox Hill to later having her life saved here, Coterie Baby CEO, Jess Jacobs has a deeply personal connection to our hospital.

Jess' journey has come full circle through a new partnership between Coterie and Lenox Hill Hospital. One that includes postpartum gift bags filled with Coterie diapers and newborn essentials to families delivering here at Lenox Hill, along with the opening of our new Coterie Visitors Lounge on the 4th floor maternity wing.
