Most people have never seen what healthy skin actually looks like beneath the surface, without a single cut. 🔬
A new open-access reference, the Atlas of Normal Skin Images on Two-Photon Microscopy, does exactly that. It’s a label-free gallery of clinically normal human skin, imaged from the surface of the stratum corneum all the way down to the dermal matrix.
Inside:
• 5 skin layers, surface to dermis
• 3 anatomic sites
• 17 subjects, ages 23 to 68
• 2 reference images per layer
Two-photon microscopy captures the real structure of living skin non-invasively, with no biopsy and no stitches. It’s part of a bigger shift toward understanding and assessing skin without rushing to cut.
