Congratulations to Robert “Bob” Lewis, BSN, RN, CCRN, Christiana Hospital, on receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses 🌼 For one family, his ability to say the right thing at the appropriate moment – interjecting a light-hearted story or delivering silent reassurance – helped make their stay feel more grounded.

As their mother recovered from spinal surgery, Lewis’ nominator was grateful for Lewis’ ability to bring calm and steadiness. “He took the time to explain every detail clearly and patiently… never making us feel like an inconvenience,” they wrote. “In a moment when everything felt out of control, Bob gave us something solid to hold onto.”

They continued, “His demeanor, compassion, and communication helped carry us through one of the hardest days we have experienced, and that impact will stay with me forever.” We are grateful for your far-reaching impact, Bob.

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and further enhancing a safe and secure environment, ChristianaCare is expanding our visitor identification and badging process across our Newark Campus, Wilmington Campus, and Cecil Campus.

Visitors ages 16 and older will be required to present a photo ID to receive a visitor badge and must wear their badge while onsite. If you're visiting a loved one or arriving for a scheduled appointment, please allow extra time for check-in and badge processing.

Thank you for helping support a safe environment for our patients, visitors, and caregivers.

Recently, we celebrated National Police and Public Safety Week by recognizing outstanding members of our Public Safety, EMS, and Emergency Communications teams at our Newark campus.

These dedicated caregivers work around the clock to help keep our patients, visitors, and fellow caregivers safe while providing critical emergency response and support services throughout our health system.

Thank you to all of our Public Safety officers, EMS professionals, and emergency dispatchers for your commitment, professionalism, and service to our neighbors every day. We are grateful for all you do to help advance the health and well-being of our communities.
