Saint Michael's is one of only 10 hospitals in New Jersey and 312 nationwide with a zero methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection rate, according to a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services dataset analyzed by Becker's Hospital Review. MRSA is an antibiotic-resistant "superbug" that can cause serious infections, making infection prevention one of the most important measures of patient safety.
