The Value of Our Volunteers
The Newark Medical Loan Closet is powered by dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills, and compassion to help meet the medical equipment needs of Licking County residents.
We currently operate two days each week, with a minimum of two volunteers working each five-hour shift. This represents approximately 1,040 hours of volunteer service each year during our regular operating hours alone.
Using the 2025 Ohio value of volunteer time of $33.54 per hour, our volunteers provide an estimated $34,882 in donated labor annually.
This figure does not include the many additional hours volunteers contribute outside of our regular operating hours. Volunteers also clean and sanitize equipment, sort donations, inspect and make minor repairs to equipment, organize inventory, prepare equipment for clients, handle administrative responsibilities, respond to phone calls, assist with fundraising and community outreach, and help plan for the future of the Medical Loan Closet.
Our volunteers are the HEART of this ministry. Their generosity allows us to provide gently used medical equipment to Licking County residents at no cost, helping individuals and families maintain their independence, dignity, health, and quality of life.
As we look toward expanding our hours and moving into a larger facility, our need for volunteers will grow. Every hour donated represents an investment in the health and well-being of our community.
If you are looking for a rewarding way to give back to your community, please reach out to Julie Quickle at [email protected]. She will be happy to add you to our volunteer list.
