TB tests use phlegm — not the easiest thing to get or work with. It takes time for results. And there can be false negatives and positives. A new test is more accurate and takes less than half an hour.

A new implementation toolkit for near point-of-care nucleic acid amplification testing (NPOC-NAAT) and swab-based TB testing is now available. Developed through the Stop TB Partnership Global Laboratory Initiative, the toolkit includes planning materials, standard operating procedures, monitoring and evaluation tools, training resources, competency checklists, and quality assurance materials to support implementation of WHO recommendations within national TB programs.
