Repost: Posted • Have you ever heard a land acknowledgment statement and thought, "What's next?" Are you looking for ways to take meaningful action to support Indigenous people and nations?

Join us on August 25 (12:00 PM CT) for our free virtual event, "Beyond Land Acknowledgment." The event will provide attendees with an overview of why it's important to move beyond land acknowledgment and toward meaningful action.

We'll take a close look at three case studies:

✅ Indigenous land return
✅ Voluntary land taxes
✅ Showing up at Native-led protest movements

This event is geared toward beginners and open to all: come with your questions!

We'll broadcast the event live on Zoom and Facebook. Our Zoom event will be closed captioned. Click the link in our bio to register!

Creation is so generous

So many plants are full of medicine right now. Flowers are full and opening towards the sun and rain.

One of my loved ones has been ill and I have been wandering and gently gathering in order to soothe my heart and move out grief between my hands. I am often brought to tears at the generosity of plants, especially those that are habitually called weeds.

Self-heal (Prunella vulgaris) is one such plant relative. It seems so small, but each time I bend down to touch it, I see how it is a slender mountain reaching upward. Perhaps it imparts some of this mountainous integrity to us as well? I don't know yet, but self-heal might respond to me in its own time.

Pumpkin fell asleep on this plant. She loves them so much but her love is a little heavy for them, haha.

self-heal -

a couple of summers ago my friend and fellow healer, , asked if I had any -heal, called 夏枯草 xia ku cao in Chinese. I did not, but after she asked me, I came upon a huge field of it while walking through the hills. I kept thinking about this sunny clearing among old oak and fir trees, sometimes praying at night that I might one day be able to gather such tall spikes from the city garden where I find myself.

This may seem strange, since many consider this plant a , and one might ask why I didn't just take some from the huge field. In my small understanding as a human who is continuously humbled by the depth of the intelligence of plants, "weeds" are powerful individuals with characters built of autonomy and grace and generosity, and in this instance, I didn't feel as though it was right for me to just take, to extract, to collect. So, I waited and prayed and I am (once again) profoundly humbled that this Prunella and all their/his/her medicine is now here in the garden.

anise hyssop -

this richly hued came from last spring. I was excited to see that she made it over the winter and has developed a new purple hue that might be due to the soil?? I almost mistook her for shiso, but after some sniffing and touching I found out who she was. the bees will be excited later this summer.
