Weight loss with facial volume and skin changes—

Aesthetic treatments, especially injectables,
should fly under the radar. They must look like they belong. They must be elegantly placed, seamless & with a timeless outcome. Using them during weight loss is not a damage control concept- it’s strategic and should be well thought out.

This was not an over night experience for our patient. She has been consistently seeing us for two years since her weight loss journey began. She lost the weight slow and steady and her HVBL treatments went in tandem.

Throughout the process of losing the weight she never experienced drastic negative changes in facial volume or skin laxity. We stayed ahead of it all, while maintaining her natural appearance and facial structures perfectly.

We used Sculptra, RF Microneedling with Toskani, Procell Microchanneling and finished with a light glazing of dermal fillers in the lower two thirds of her face to establish support and contour. Lip Filler was the icing on top, giving her lips subtle volume and beautiful shape.

It can be tempting to want immediate max volume in a single session, but rushing the process is often how we end up with filler displacement (aka migration) and an unnatural, heavy look.

I went digging for the truth 🪏
Safe injection practice is no stranger to HVBL — and if you’re planning to be injected in the near future, it shouldn’t be a stranger to you either.

For years, injectors were taught only what was available at the time: educated guesses, textbook diagrams, clinical averages. But here’s what 5-6 years in this field has taught me as FACT — there are no two identical faces. No two identical vascular maps. Every patient’s anatomy is its own blueprint.

Crystal Harter FNP-BC (our resident HRT and wellness nurse practitioner) weighs in from a patient’s point of view after we used ultrasound scanning prior to her full facial balancing procedure she had done a couple of months ago!

I’ve been told, year after year, that ultrasound isn’t necessary. That it’s an expensive device that “doesn’t generate revenue.” I’ve heard “we’ve practiced 10 years without one, we’ve been fine, you will too.”

Here’s what’s actually TRUE.

→ Textbook anatomy shows you where vessels usually are
→ Ultrasound shows you where this patient’s vessels actually are
→ Vascular occlusion risk isn’t theoretical — it’s anatomical variation you can’t see or predict from the surface
