I LOVE this thing. 🤍
I’ve been playing with the Mira Hormone Monitor, and this is one of those tools that has genuinely made me curious.
Mira allows you to quantitatively track FSH, LH, E3G (an estrogen metabolite) and PdG (a progesterone metabolite) in urine — at home — so instead of seeing one isolated hormone value on one particular day, you can begin to see the pattern over time.
I have a family member using it, and I’m personally using it as well.
And because I’m me… I’m taking it a step further. 😊
I’m going to be running conventional laboratory testing alongside my Mira measurements so I can see how the trends compare — Mira urinary E3G vs. serum estradiol, PdG vs. progesterone, FSH, LH, timing, fluctuations, and overall patterns.
There is already some interesting science behind this.
One study looking at at-home urinary estrogen monitoring reported that:
“Matched daily samples confirmed good correlation of urine E3G and serum E2.”
Another study evaluating urinary and serum hormones concluded:
“Urine and serum hormones maintain a close relationship in women into their sixth decade of life.”
And research specifically using Mira has shown that quantitative at-home hormone monitoring can identify meaningful changes in reproductive hormone patterns.
What I find especially interesting is the ability to look at trends rather than relying solely on a single snapshot in time.
That said, Mira is measuring urinary hormones/metabolites, and those numbers should not be interpreted as interchangeable with conventional serum values. I still consider laboratory testing an important part of clinical assessment.
But as an additional tool?
I think this has the potential to be incredibly useful.
I’ll keep you posted as I collect more of my own data and compare what Mira is showing me with conventional labs. I’m especially interested in what this may teach us about hormone variability and individualized hormone therapy.
Stay tuned. I have a feeling I’m going to have a lot to say about this one. 😊
