Belated post BUT … The Jimmy Fund is so amazing!

Robbie was invited on a teen weekend with the Jimmy Fund where they
⚾️ stayed overnight in Back Bay
⚾️ went on a Duck Boat tour AND DRIVE!
⚾️ met all the Red Sox players and got autographs
⚾️ signed his name inside the Green Monster
⚾️ watched the game from the Owner’s suite with prior players and VIP’s. 😊
⚾️ Jake Peavy even let Robbie wear his rings!

Thank you to the amazing nurses, coordinators and donors for an amazing safe weekend for these great kids. 💛

It’s been over a month since I’ve posted. WOW. We have been consumed with just living day to day and tip toeing around Robbie’s fatigue. While he was sleeping his hair has been growing 😅🙌
Now that he is regaining energy, we have just arrived at our happy place (Point Sebago) for the end of summer and Robbie and I won Parent/Child Washertoss!
We have been welcomed “home” with open arms and can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store for us! 🥰
(Nana T was upset that we beat her and her grandkid so she threw Robbie the bunny ears ☺️)

We have had a bed set up at the bottom of our bed since Robbie has been sick for any of the kids who need company for the night.
Robbie has frequented that bed mostly for anxiety and when he was at his lowest points medically.
When I woke up this morning I noticed a little buddy came along with him.

Robbie the blanket hog… Evelyn the bed hog… best buddies.

Today was such a sweet milestone to hit.
Robbie got his Port-a-Cath removed!!! 🤗
They also did a lumbar puncture to check for any traveling cancer cells so are waiting on results from that. They were ok with removing the Port today because of how good the spine looked on MRI.

We had to turn around and go back to the house to get Robbie’s lucky necklace. I didn’t know he had been leaning on it for comfort since the beginning of his treatment. He had been keeping it on his bed post. Today, he wanted it close by.

The sticker on his port site bandage is of our sweet girl Opry who is the therapy dog at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. 🐾💛

My love has been feeling the effects from radiation and this is pretty much what his life looks like these days 🤣
He falls asleep anytime, anywhere and for HOURS!
They said this would happen. We expected it. We expect it to improve.
He also has been experiencing morning headaches and nausea/ food aversions. This causes him anxiety because he has had weight loss in the past and every headache makes him think his tumor is worsening or coming back.

HOWEVER…we received some AWESOME news today!

Robbie’s MRI showed he is STABLE and tumor markers are NEGATIVE! This means we get to proceed with removing his port next week after his lumbar puncture!

Our next appointment (with the Oncologist) is in THREE MONTHS!
We will see different specialists in the meantime here and there but this is a HUGE lifestyle improvement for our dude. 🧠 🩶💛🥹

Hi, everyone!
Meal train has been the biggest lifesaver for us through Robbie’s treatment. Most of our time now is spent recovering from radiation side effects and managing what the next steps are to get caught up in normal life and getting the rest of our kids needs in order.
Next week we start the whole labs, scans and procedures like lumbar puncture again for a couple weeks and people asked me to add some dates to meal train to help out! Thank you to all who have provided us with such nutritious and delicious meals. You have provided our family with health and nourishment and taken a huge weight off our shoulders.

Throwback to Robbie at 6 years old busting out of Boston Children’s Hospital (added other pics after) after a severe pneumonia. He had several of these when he was younger battling viral induced asthma; even on Christmas once.
We thought those were the tough days… 🫁 😮‍💨

WE DID IT!
ROBBIE DID IT!

We hit a HUGE milestone.
OUR LAST RADIATION SESSION! 😲
I can’t believe it. This day seemed SO far away when he got diagnosed in December.

We are far from out of the woods but we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for sure. Robbie has been experiencing some symptoms that need close monitoring and also has his next MRI and lumbar puncture scheduled.
