UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION:

Sheldon Roy Wright, 85, of Newcomerstown, lovingly known as “Crapaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who were blessed to know him.

Sheldon was born on March 19, 1941, in Coshocton, Ohio, to the late Dale Wright and Eileen Simpson-Norris.

Crapaw was, above all else, a man of God. He attended the Newcomerstown Church of Christ and loved going to church. He was a firm believer in passing on the word of Christ. His faith was a deeply important part of who he was. He loved his brothers and sisters in Christ, and he had a remarkable ability to make a friend out of a stranger. He welcomed people with kindness and warmth, and his genuine love for others was something that could be felt by everyone around him.

He found joy in the simple things in life. He loved working out, was extremely kindhearted, and, most of all, spending cherished time with his family. Those moments with the people he loved were priceless to him, and they are the moments his family will hold onto forever.

Sheldon was a loving father to his daughter, Angelina (Phillip) Wright-Tristano, and a proud grandfather to Mandy (Christopher) Felgar, Britni Wright, and Bonita Hershberger. He was also a deeply loving great-grandfather to his six great-grandchildren. To them, he wasn’t simply their grandfather or great-grandfather, he was their beloved Crapaw. The love he gave them will continue through every story they tell, every memory they share, and every lesson he left behind. He is also survived by his siblings, Dixie (John) Matthias, Linda Neighbor, and Dale (Dixie) Wright; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Along with his parents, Sheldon was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Wright; sister, Patricia; and his stepson, Scott Moore.

His family meant the world to him. His love, his laughter, and especially his smile brought warmth wherever he went. His laugh was unmistakable, and his smile could brighten a room. Those are the things we will remember when we think of him, the sound of his laughter, the warmth of his smile, and the feeling of being loved by him.

While our hearts are heavy with his passing, there is also comfort in knowing that Sheldon is no longer separated from those he loved. He has been reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Beth Wright, as well as his brothers and sisters and many dear friends who went before him. For a man whose faith meant so much to him, we can take comfort in believing that he has finally gone home.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a legacy that will live on for generations. Though we cannot see him or hear his laugh anymore, the love he gave us remains. Every memory, every story, every smile, and every moment shared with him is something that death cannot take away.

But we will carry you with us in our hearts, and we will be grateful for every moment we were blessed to have you in our lives.

Until we meet again in Heaven, rest peacefully.

We love you, and you will be deeply missed.

Per his wishes, a cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Newcomerstown Church of Christ on Sunday September 20th. Visitation will be at 1pm services at 2pm. There will be a meal and period of fellowship for family and friends immediately after the service. David R. Kenney evangelist, will be officiating. All who knew him are welcome!

Celebrate the life of Sheldon R. Wright and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.

Above all, Darlene will be remembered for her strength and independence.

A Grandson’s Tribute

Of all the names Darlene carried throughout her life, one of the most cherished was “Grandy.” It was a name she chose for herself—distinctive, stylish, and entirely her own, just like the woman behind it.

Her grandson Jordan shares these words in loving tribute to the grandmother whose unmistakable presence, laughter, glamour, and love left a mark that will never fade.

Grandy’s Song

You are fabulous. You are fur coats and lipstick. You’ve become style and flair. You are never quite on time, but somehow, when it mattered, you were always there.

And if Grandy kissed you on the cheek, everyone knew it—because you wore that kiss around with you in the form of a perfect lipstick mark.

I don’t know how to put into words what it feels like to write this to you. Maybe because writing it makes time feel too real, and I don’t want to think about a world where all of these little things become memories.

But I want you to know that I remember them.

I remember the glamour and the personality. I remember the woman who decided that “Grandma” simply wouldn’t do and gave herself a name that was entirely her own. Of course you did.

There is something so “wonderfully you” about that.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that the people we love leave little pieces of themselves everywhere. In the things we say. In the things we find beautiful. In the way we laugh. In traditions we don’t even realize we’re keeping. Sometimes even in the way we put ourselves together before walking out the door.

And there is so much of you that will stay.

I hope you know how lucky I feel that I got to call you Grandy.

I hope you know that when I remember you, I won’t only remember this part. I’ll remember the fabulous woman underneath the fur. The lipstick. The flair. The lateness. The laughter. The stories. The presence.

Most of all, I’ll remember that you were there.

There are people who pass through our lives quietly, and then there are people who leave lipstick on our cheeks.

You, Grandy, left your mark. And I will carry it with me always. But you’ll always be my Grandy. I love you, Darlene.

Love,
Jordan

A visitation will be held at Addy Funeral Home from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026. A graveside service will follow at West Lawn Cemetery at 1:30 with Joyce and Scott Schrickel officiating.
