Check Your Food Labels For This Extremely Inflammatory Ingredient
If you're choosing plant-based foods to support your health, there's one ingredient you should always check for: carrageenan.
Carrageenan is a thickening agent derived from red seaweed and is commonly added to plant-based milks, dairy-free yogurts, coffee creamers, protein drinks, ice cream, and many other processed foods.
While it's often viewed as a natural ingredient, research suggests carrageenan may irritate the gut lining, disrupt the gut microbiome, and contribute to inflammation. This may be especially important if you're dealing with digestive issues, autoimmune conditions, or chronic inflammation.
Reading ingredient labels is one of the simplest ways to reduce unnecessary inflammatory exposures and make more informed food choices.
