Mr. Patrick McKenzie Windham, 85, of Newnan, passed away Tuesday, August 25th. He was born March 10, 1941, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Jesse Windham and Maude Peterman Windham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Julian Windham, Irene Underwood, Dorothy Stephens, Troy Windham, and Lamar Windham.
Pat was born in a three-room house in the Silvertown mill village of Thomaston, Ga. His childhood was spent being adventurous and causing typical boyhood mischief with his brothers. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1959, and shortly after, he met Diane Cochran at the local skating rink, and his life was forever changed. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961 and eloped with Diane in 1962. After four years in the Air Force, he was hired on the spot at Delta Air Lines as an avionics mechanic. Through the years 1965-1990, his career advanced through numerous positions, including lead mechanic, shop foreman, and General Manager over five avionics shops. In 1990, he was promoted to General Manager over the Flight Simulator Division until he retired in 1994. After retiring from Delta in 1994, he promptly began working for Barfield, Inc., as Vice President of Business Development. He worked at Barfield for five years before returning to Delta as a consultant for Tech Sales and Tech Ops, under his company, Aviation Information Resources, Inc.
