When we look into mirrors, we see ourselves. When mirrors are dirty, we see a distorted variation of ourselves. What if the mirror, as hard as we look, never reflected us at all?
What if it was the face of someone who felt foreign, or so distant that we couldn’t say for certain, it was us being reflected?
In my newest essay, Dangerous Reflections, I explore the experience of never having your inner world reflected as a child and what this means for our sense of self.
