As a pediatrician, one of my favorite summer nutrition tips is to choose snacks that are naturally sweet rather than loaded with added sugars.
Store-bought frozen treats can contain surprising amounts of sugar, artificial colors, and unnecessary ingredients. Instead, try making your own fruit popsicles at home!
Simple Recipe:
✅ Blend fresh strawberries, blueberries, mango, watermelon, peaches, or any favorite fruit.
✅ Add a splash of water or unsweetened coconut water if needed.
✅ Pour into popsicle molds and freeze.
That’s it!
Why I love homemade fruit popsicles:
🍓 Made from real fruit
💧 Helps keep kids hydrated
🌈 Provides vitamins, minerals, and fiber
🚫 No added sugar, artificial dyes, or preservatives
😋 A fun way to enjoy healthy snacks during hot summer days
Remember: children develop taste preferences early. Offering naturally sweet foods helps them learn to enjoy the flavor of real fruits without relying on added sugars.
