Stevia and monk fruit are not so innocent.

These and other sweeteners can alter your gut microbiome and affect your insulin response.

Artificial sweeteners and other sugar substitutes sweeten foods without extra calories. But studies show the ingredients can affect gut and heart health.

Do you get bloating after some meals…but can’t figure out which foods are doing it?

If you’ve been trying to cut out out foods trying to figure out which ones are giving you gastrointestinal issues like bloating, diarrhea, or indigestion, but you haven’t found any pattern to it…you might have a parasite!

Regular gut cleanses used to be done regularly in our great-grandmothers’ day, but they’re not as common now. Her wisdom still applies, though, and I see clients test every week for one type of parasite or another — they are way more common than most people realize.

What are the chances YOU have a parasite? Take my free Parasite Questionnaire and find out! https://p.bttr.to/3YSDlYV

When was the last time you had a full iron panel (Ferritin, Iron, Saturation, and TIBC)?

For most with Hashimoto's, it's pretty rare that it's checked. It's a panel I request often from my clients. Why? Because it's so important to the thyroid...and keys me in to other nutritional issues.

Your body needs ample amounts of iron to properly convert T4 to T3. And because most thyroid medications are T4 only, your body still needs to convert that inactive T4 to active T3 so that your body can use it. But, iron can be habitually low with Hashimoto's...making your thyroid symptoms worse!

Why is iron low in those with Hashimoto's? Thank you for asking.

It can be low for a few reasons:
✔️ Someone is taking acid blockers because of reflux (PPIs, tums, H2 blockers, etc)
✔️ Someone has parietal cell antibodies and their body is attacking the cells that create stomach acid
✔️ Someone has digestive inflammation preventing the absorption of iron
✔️ Stress!

Most of these stop the production of stomach acid...and we need stomach acid to absorb minerals in the body...like iron!

But, I often see parietal cell antibodies in those with Hashimoto's creating a low iron situation.

Aside from requesting an iron panel (which you should), some common symptoms of low iron are...
👉 Fatigue/ weakness
👉 Pale skin and eyes
👉 Dizziness
👉 Brittle nails
👉 Headaches
👉 Anxiety
👉 Restless legs

Yes, increasing your iron can help but not if low stomach acid or parietal cell antibodies are the culprits. It's important to know as well that B vitamins play a role in your iron status.

So...when was the last time you had your iron levels checked?
