Aesthetic medicine is not just about what we can do.
It is also about knowing what we should avoid.
Here are five things I would never recommend as an injector and why patient safety, anatomy, and long-term outcomes always come first:
1️⃣ Permanent or semi-permanent injectables
Permanent filler may sound convenient, but it can come with long-term risks, including chronic inflammation, lumps, granulomas, and tissue distortion. Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, these products cannot simply be dissolved and may require surgical correction.
2️⃣ Aggressive at-home chemical peels
Professional peels are chosen based on skin type, skin condition, depth, and tolerance. High-strength DIY peels can lead to burns, scarring, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially when used without proper guidance.
3️⃣ Deeply discounted or questionable products
When a price seems unusually low, it is worth asking why. Counterfeit or unregulated injectables can contain unknown substances and create serious health risks. Product source, provider training, and medical standards matter.
4️⃣ Overfilling delicate areas
The lips and under-eyes are not areas that tolerate excess volume well. Overfilling can lead to migration, puffiness, distortion, and results that are difficult to fully correct. In these areas, less, placed correctly, is usually safer and more natural.
5️⃣ Doing too much at once
💡 More treatment does not always mean a better result. The face and skin need time to heal, integrate, and respond. A thoughtful treatment plan should prioritize sequencing, recovery, and long-term balance. The goal is not to do as much as possible.
The goal is to do what is appropriate, safe, and sustainable for you 🤍
