Great advice by Hoag!
A stroke can happen in an instant, but recognizing the signs just as quickly can save a life.
“Time lost is brain lost,” says Dr. David Brown, neurologist and program director of Hoag’s Stroke Program.
At Hoag, our Stroke Program ranks among the top 5% in the nation, delivering advanced, coordinated care when every second matters. Because when it comes to stroke, time isn’t just important, it’s everything.
That’s why we’re sharing a simple way to remember the signs: BE FAST.
Balance – sudden dizziness or loss of coordination
Eyes – blurred or lost vision
Face – uneven smile or facial droop
Arm – weakness or numbness
Speech – slurred or difficulty speaking
Time – call 911 immediately
The good news: Up to 80% of strokes are preventable. Managing blood pressure, staying active, quitting smoking and controlling conditions like diabetes can significantly reduce your risk.
This month, learn the signs, understand your risk and share this with someone you love. It could make all the difference.
