Celebrating Assisted Living Week!

During Assisted Living Week, we are reminded just how fortunate we are to have such amazing community partners who continually show up for our residents and team with kindness, generosity, and support.

We are especially grateful to Gentiva for stopping by and treating us to a delicious yogurt and granola bar! It was the perfect pick-me-up and such a thoughtful way to brighten the day.

Thank you, Gentiva, for being such a wonderful partner and for all that you do to support our Mennowood community. We appreciate you more than you know.

We were so lucky that the weather held out, what a great turnout! Our Grandparents Day Event was filled with smiles, hugs, special moments, and cherished time together. Thank you to all the families who joined us and made the day so meaningful! ❤️

Paws, Purrs & Plenty of Smiles: Therapy Kittens Visit Our Residents

There are few things quite as comforting as the gentle purr of a kitten, the softness of a furry little head, and the unconditional affection of an animal who simply wants to be near you. Recently, our residents had the wonderful opportunity to experience all of that and more when therapy kittens came to visit!

The room quickly filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of “awwws” as our residents met their tiny visitors. Some residents enjoyed holding and petting the kittens, while others simply watched them play, stretch, and explore their surroundings. For many, the visit brought back happy memories of beloved pets from years past.

More Than Just a Cute Visit
Animal-assisted interactions can offer meaningful emotional and social benefits for older adults. Research has found that visits from animals can provide opportunities for companionship, sensory engagement, reminiscence, storytelling, and meaningful connection.

August Birthday Bash, Resident of the Month & Luau Fun! 🌸🌸🌸🌸

What better way to celebrate than with a little sunshine, smiles and a whole lot of fun! Our residents came together to celebrate our August birthdays, recognize our wonderful Resident of the Month, and enjoy a festive Luau celebration!

We love any excuse to celebrate the amazing people who make our community so speical! Happy Birthday to all of our August birthday residents and congratulations to Pat our Resident of the Month.

A Little Creativity, A Lot of Fun!

Today our residents discovered the beautiful Japanese art of Kinusaiga - a unique technique that uses fabric pieces to create colorful, intricate designs without sewing.

It was wonderful to see everyone learning something new, choosing their fabrics, and watching their creativity come to life. Who knew a little fabric could turn into such beautiful works of art.

We love finding new ways for our residents to learn, create, and have fun together!

A Little Cake, A Lot of Creativity! 🍰🎨

Today's creative outlet was as sweet as it was fun! Our residents got to enjoy a slice of cake, colorful frostings, and the freedom to let their creativity take over.

There were no rules - just frosting, imagination, and plenty of smiles! And of course the best part was getting to enjoy our edible masterpieces afterwards.

Sometimes the simplest activities make for the sweetest memories!
