Celebrating the life of one of our own, Jennie Brookman. 🧚‍♀️

Jennie was so much to so many--a devoted grandmother, mother, wife, aunt, sister, and loving friend. Every story she told had life and purpose, and you couldn't help but listen. Her stories were filled with memories, lessons, laughter, and experiences that reflected a life truly lived. Through those stories, she reminded us how full and meaningful her journey had been.

Yesterday, we paused to honor Jennie, cherish the memories she left with us, and celebrate a life well lived.

Forever remembered. Forever loved. 🩷

Jennie E. Brookman, 72, of Yorktown, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at her home, in a room full of family, surrounded by love.

Here are a few simple ways to stay safe in the heat:
🐶 Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day.
💧 Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
❄️ Keep your home cool with air conditioning or fans.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing if needed to go outside.
🌳 If you're outdoors, seek shad and take frequent breaks.
🐾 Remember that hot pavement can burn your pet's paw--walk them early in the morning or later in the evening.

Can anyone spot this osprey's dinner? 🧐👀

Nature's version of takeout doesn't get any fresher than this! Watching these incredible birds in action is a reminder of the beauty and balance of the world around us.

This magnificent osprey wasn't stopping by for a photo-op--it was bringing home dinner! Known as "fish hawks," ospreys are expert anglers, diving feet-first into the water and emerging with their next meal in their talons. 🦅🐟

So get out and enjoy this gorgeous weather! You never know what nature might show you--a breathtaking bird of prey, a stunning sunset, or a moment that makes you stop and appreciate the world around you! 🌳🌿
