CCRU (Compassionate Care Reaching yoU) Outreach is a medical student run organization at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine-NKY that serves to provide compassionate, accessible medical care to the underserved population in Northern Kentucky.

Meet one of our research managers, Sam! Sam is a fourth year med student from Newport, KY. A fun fact about her is that she enjoys taking her cats on walks outside 🐈 She said “my favorite part of CCRU is getting to build relationships with patients while learning how to provide thoughtful care in a resource limited setting. I also love that it pushes me to be adaptable and creative while working on a team that genuinely cares about improving access for our community.”

Meet Gauri! Gauri is a M2 and is one of our Faith Community Clinic Managers. She’s from Prosper, TX and a fun fact about her is that she hiked mount tam this summer! ⛰️ She said “I joined CCRU to build meaningful connections to our local community and put my pre-clinical skills into practice. It’s been an amazing experience to practice patient care with a team of supportive local physicians and peers around you.”

Meet Evan! Evan is a M3 who serves as our technology manager 💻. He’s from Milford, OH and a fun fact about him is that he’s an amateur DJ in his free time and collects vinyl records! He said “my favorite part about CCRU is being able to work on my clinical skills and do something that isn’t just studying the first two years of med school.. I was told that I volunteered so much with CCRU that I should join the exec team and this role was a good fit!”

Our next exec member highlight is Rianna! Rianna is a third year medical student who serves as one of our Student Schedulers. She’s from Liberty Township, OH and a fun fact about her is that she coaches girl club soccer and her team won the league in spring 2026! ⚽️ She said “I love that CCRU allows us to serve communities while also learning the practice of medicine. The learning environment lets us work collaboratively with fellow students and physicians to teach and share skills while caring for our patients.”

Time for another exec shoutout!!!!!! Anna is an M4 and one of our finance/funding managers. She is from Ashland, KY and a fun fact is that she danced for 19 years! Her favorite part of CCRU is getting to know our patients. It is an honor to hear their stories and help in any way we can. She loves knowing that what we do, big or small, has a huge impact on their day!

The highlight reel continues…. Up next we have Melissa Eng, a M2, who will be one of the Research Managers this year for CCRU. She is from Loveland, OH and loves to do handstands and acrobatics!! Starting off with our first exec member highlight of 2026-27 we have Ashley! Ashley is a M3 who will be serving as one of the CCRU co-managers. She is from Lexington, KY. A fun fact about her is that she loves to bake bread, needlepoint, and read! When asked about CCRU she said “CCRU has been formative to my pre-clinical years of medical school and has taught me so much about patient care and social determinants of health. I’m so grateful for CCRU!”
