Hyaluronic acid filler isn’t static. HA attracts and holds water, so over time, some fillers can take on fluid and look fuller, softer, or less defined than when they were first placed. Add in how your face moves, how your tissues change, and how your body metabolizes the product, and what you see in the mirror can drift from what you originally wanted.

That’s why we don’t rely on guesswork. We use ultrasound.

With ultrasound, we can see:
🔹 Where filler is sitting under the skin
🔹 How much is still there, even years later
🔹 Whether it has spread, settled, or pooled in an area
🔹 What’s filler and what’s your own tissue, so I know what to treat

Then we can make a precise plan: dissolve a small, specific area, adjust a section, or leave it alone if it’s doing its job. Instead of dissolving everything, we treat only what needs to change.

The goal is a result that looks balanced and like you, not just on day one, but as time goes on.

Your face changes over time, and your neurotoxin treatment should change with it.

That’s why there’s no standard number of units or injection map. Your anatomy, your muscle strength, your brow position, and your goals all shape the plan, and it can change from visit to visit.

In your 20s and 30s: Skin is still thick and elastic, and the lines are mostly dynamic, meaning they only show when you move. Lighter, more targeted dosing can soften those movement patterns early, before they settle into the skin.

In your 40s and 50s: Fat pads shift, skin thins, and the bone beneath starts to remodel. Lines become etched in, and brows and the tissue around the eyes can start to sit lower. This is where placement matters most. The goal is to treat the muscles pulling the face down while protecting the ones that help hold the brow up. Doing too much in the forehead can leave the brow feeling heavy.

In your 60s and beyond: With thinner skin and more volume loss, lines aren’t only from muscle movement anymore. Neurotoxin still helps, but I’m often more conservative and more strategic, and sometimes combine it with other treatments like filler, collagen stimulators, or skin tightening for the best results.

Meet Alexia Meissner, RN, BSN, FNP-S, our Lead Aesthetic Nurse in Mashpee & Andover and Clinical Supervisor of Ultrasound and Complication Management at GFaceMD.

Alexia is a Massachusetts native and registered nurse who earned her Bachelor's degree from Fairfield University. She spent three years caring for patients in the emergency department, helping people through critical situations. It was during that time in the hospital that she discovered her passion for aesthetic medicine.
Now at GFaceMD, Alexia is excited to help patients feel their best and reach their aesthetic goals.

When she's not at work, you'll find her spending time with family and friends, traveling, and trying new restaurants. 🍽️✈️

Say hello to Alexia in Wellesley, Mashpee or Andover!

Lip filler isn’t permanent, and it’s not one-size-fits-all.

Lips are going more natural, and we LOVE it.

If your lip filler doesn’t feel like you anymore, whether it’s too full, uneven, or just not your style, hyaluronic acid filler can be adjusted. We can dissolve it and reset to a softer, more natural shape.

This is a patient who wanted to go back to her natural lips because of asymmetry, lumpiness, and migration.

Wherever you are in your filler journey, you have options. The goal is always a look that feels like you.
