Today, 25 years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 individuals who lost their lives in unimaginable attacks on America, and we honor the courage of the first responders, caregivers, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary acts of service, sacrifice, and compassion in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

At EveryAge, we are reminded that even in life's most difficult moments, hope, faith, and community endure. The events of September 11 revealed the strength of the human spirit and the importance of caring for one another, values that continue to guide our ministry and mission each day.

This week, we kicked off an exciting four-week Digital Literacy Training Series at NOAH with Gabriella Gervasio and Jerime Allmond from East Carolina Health leading the way!

Classes will take place every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., covering a variety of technology-related topics designed to help participants build confidence and skills in today's digital world.

This week's session focused on Basic Computer Skills, where participants learned how to navigate a computer, understand the functions of different buttons and features, and identify the purpose of various computer ports. Gabriella and Jerime kept the class engaging with educational videos, hands-on instruction, and personalized support to ensure everyone felt comfortable with the material.

Four residents attended the class and were actively engaged throughout the session. Participants shared that they gained valuable knowledge, enjoyed the interactive learning experience, and are already looking forward to the upcoming classes.

We're excited to continue this learning journey and help residents strengthen their digital skills one step at a time! 👏✨

💪 Happy Labor Day! As we mark the unofficial end of summer, we also honor the work and contributions laborers have made to the development and achievements of the United States. Thanks to them, we have safer, healthier, and better balanced working conditions.

Today, we applaud the benefits and circumstances of our own jobs that these early workers fought for and made possible. While you enjoy a cookout, vacation, or couch time, celebrate the good work that you do as well! 🎉

Residents recently gathered for a delightful Paint & Sip event, where participants spent the afternoon creating beautiful works of art while enjoying great company and refreshing ice-cold ginger ale.

Using pre-drawn floral and butterfly designs on 8" x 10" canvases, residents added their own unique touches, transforming each painting into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. With brushes in hand and creativity flowing, the room was filled with colorful artwork, laughter, and conversation.

More than just a painting session, the event provided an opportunity for residents to relax, express themselves, and connect with friends in a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Participants were proud to showcase their finished creations, and many shared how much they enjoyed the chance to socialize while exploring their artistic side.

📚🎲 Game Day Brings Fun, Friendship, and Learning to NOAH! 🎲📚

A big thank you to Twin Rivers Friends for sponsoring a fantastic Game Day at New Bern Older Adult Housing!

Twin Rivers Friends is a local organization dedicated to supporting reading, lifelong learning, and community enrichment throughout the New Bern and Craven County area. Six of their wonderful representatives spent the day with our residents, leading games including Scramble, Phase 10, and Yahtzee.

Residents earned tickets based on their game scores and enjoyed selecting prizes ranging from snacks and personal care items to journals and puzzles. Twin Rivers Friends generously provided all the games, refreshments, beverages, and gifts, making the day extra special.

The event gave residents the opportunity to socialize, enjoy friendly competition, and create meaningful connections while having lots of fun. We were thrilled to see everyone actively engaged and smiling throughout the afternoon!

As an added gift to our community, Twin Rivers Friends also refreshed our first-floor library and updated the display, creating an inviting space that encourages reading and lifelong learning.

🍕🎉 Residents at New Bern Older Adults Housing recently enjoyed a Pizza Party and informational session hosted by Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern, NC!

On July 8, Marketing Enrollment Coordinator Samantha Proppe and a PACE Nurse Practitioner visited the community to share information about the many services available through the program. Residents learned about primary medical care, transportation, meal services, recreational activities, vision care, podiatry, audiology services, and more. The team also reviewed eligibility requirements and insurance coverage options.

The presentation sparked great discussion, with residents asking thoughtful questions and engaging throughout the session. One resident even scheduled a private appointment to learn more about the program and how it could benefit them.

A special thank you to Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern for providing pizza and valuable resources that help connect older adults with the care and support they need to live healthy, independent lives. We appreciate the partnership and look forward to future opportunities to serve our residents together! 🍕❤️🏠

We celebrate our hard-won independence and our shared belief "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, [and] that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

✨ Celebrating 25 Years of Community, Care, and Connection at NOAH! ✨

Recently, we had the incredible honor of celebrating NOAH’s 25th Anniversary—a milestone that reflects decades of compassion, service, and impact in the New Bern community.

The celebration brought together residents, team members, community leaders, and friends to reflect on the past and look ahead to an even brighter future. We were especially grateful to hear remarks from Lee Syria, President & CEO of EveryAge, and Mayor Jeffrey Odham, who both spoke to the powerful legacy and continued importance of NOAH in serving local seniors.

From heartfelt reflections on NOAH’s history to uplifting music from talented soloist Gail Anderson, the program was filled with meaningful moments. Former team members shared memories, and special recognition highlighted the people who have made NOAH what it is today—a place of dignity, connection, and care.

💚 Today, our mission is stronger than ever.
We are proud to continue serving seniors in the New Bern area through NOAH and Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern, building on a foundation of compassion and community.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we’re proud to focus on the importance of caring for our mental well‑being at every stage of life. 💚

Recently, we hosted a Life Enrichment session on “Recognizing and Managing Your Stress,” where tenants discussed healthy ways to understand stress, cope with daily challenges, and support emotional wellness. Managing stress is important at all ages, and these conversations help build awareness, resilience, and balance.

We’re grateful for meaningful moments like these that support whole‑person wellness—mind, body, and spirit.
