If you are a parent, please take the time to read this article.

A study tells us how depression among parents can affect their children's mental health, educational development, and overall well-being. It found that children with depressed parents were more likely to be suspended from school and have learning disabilities. The researchers said that educators and clinicians should be aware of the negative impact that parental depression can have on children's behavior and academic development.

If you know a parent who is struggling with mental health, support them! Mental illness should not be stigmatized and parents should not feel ashamed to ask for help.

There is hope and there is help.

The spread of COVID-19, economic hardships, and social isolation, especially during the first several months of the pandemic, fomented stress, anxiety, and depression among children and teens alike. Now, the schools are expecting to resume in person this fall, the study’s findings highlight the stressors of pandemic life, in or outside of a remote learning environment. For children, the biggest source of stress is exposure to the seemingly scary coronavirus media reports; widespread and passive use of screens-whether on mobile phones, TVs, or computers; and disrupting daily life and sleep patterns. Do you struggle with morning anxiety? Have you’ve been waking up in an already anxious state?

Surprisingly, it’s not only about having to deal with your day or going to work/school.

Turns out our cortisol (stress hormone) levels are higher in the morning because our body is using this hormone to wake us up. Therefore, for the first 20-30 minutes after waking you can feel a noticeable rise in your morning anxiety. If you’ve been stressed or worried lately, it only adds up, because your body already has enough stress hormones circulating in your bloodstream.

That's why choosing The right morning routine matters for your morning anxiety.
