As a new school year approaches, it’s important for families to get back into routines, including how students travel to and from school safely. After months away, everyone can benefit from a quick safety refresher.

Annually, there are on average, 815 student deaths and 152,250 injuries related to school travel during normal school travel hours. This back-to-school season, we’ll be focusing on safety tips for all modes of transportation whether your child walks, bikes, rides the bus, or travels by car. 👀 Healthy eyes help kids learn, play, and explore.

During Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month, we’re sharing reminders for parents and caregivers about the importance of protecting children’s vision.

Regular eye exams can help identify vision concerns early, while simple safety steps can help prevent eye injuries at home, during sports, and during everyday activities.

Help protect your child’s vision:
✅ Schedule recommended eye exams
✅ Encourage safe habits during sports and activities
✅ Teach kids not to look directly at bright lights or harmful objects

A healthy future starts with helping kids see it clearly. 💙

Whether you’re checking your family’s immunization records in CT WiZ or learning more about recommended immunizations, every step you take helps build a healthier Connecticut.

Because the people who matter most are worth protecting.

Protect your baby from measles with 2 doses of measles vaccine.

1️⃣ In countries where measles is common, it is vital to give the first dose around 9 months of age; in other countries, at 12-15 months of age.
2️⃣ Give the second dose later in childhood to ensure full protection.

Remember: Infants can be vaccinated around 6 months of age if there is an outbreak or before travel to endemic countries.
