A sweet look into our 500th birth 💜 Leeann's Story.

"I’m honored to be Hopes Embrace’s 500 birth. What it meant to have Aimee as my doula is so much! I found her when I was 14 weeks pregnant and was instantly drawn to her and her services. I truly feel like God put her in my path for a reason. I felt so comfortable with her at the start of meeting her and even more so in the interview we did. It meant the world to me having her be apart of my labor and delivery & it is something I will never forget. It was truly a beautiful experience even with things not going to plan for certain things I wanted it still went exactly the way it was meant to. She calmed me in my chaos and scared moments. She helped me relate my miscarriage last year to reasons of why I felt the way I did with things in this pregnancy and labor and delivery. I am beyond grateful for her and everything she did. Even the brief second I felt I couldn’t anymore she held me together and it was soon after that my son was born. Even after 5 births I learned more and experienced differently than I did before. The amount of support she had to give was amazing. It was such a blessing finding her and her being a part of our story. We will forever be grateful."

What started as a vision to make sure moms never have to walk through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum alone has grown into a community of doulas supporting families across Kentucky.

Today, we’re celebrating our 500th birth , but more than a number, we’re celebrating every mom who trusted us, every family who welcomed us in, and every baby whose first moments we were lucky enough to witness.

To our incredible doulas: thank you for showing up with compassion, knowledge, encouragement, and so much heart.

And to every family who has allowed us to be part of your story: thank you for letting us be there.

One of our most asked questions: When Should I Call My Doula? 💭

When early labor begins, text or call your doula and let her know you’re having contractions. You don’t have to wait until labor feels intense to reach out!

For the first few hours, your doula can typically support you by phone or text while you labor at home. **Early labor can last a while**, so having your doula available for encouragement, questions, and guidance can be a huge help.

Your doula should plan to come meet you when you’re in active labor. But how do you know when that is?

Active labor is generally when your contractions become stronger, longer, and closer together, often around 5 minutes apart, lasting about 1 minute, and continuing consistently for about 1 hour, though every birth and provider's recommendations are different.

Your doula can help you recognize these changes and talk through when it makes sense for her to join you.

A doula can’t promise you a specific birth outcome, and that’s not the point. 💜

But research shows that having continuous support during labor can make a real difference. One large Cochrane review found that women who received continuous support were 25% less likely to have a cesarean birth and more likely to have a spontaneous vaginal birth.

Honestly? Support isn’t just about what happens medically. It’s having someone beside you who knows your preferences, helps you understand your options, offers comfort, and reminds you that you can do this.
