In an emergency, seconds matter — and a missing or unreadable house number can cost precious time. 🏠

✅ Numbers should be at least 4" tall
✅ Use contrasting colors (dark numbers on light background, or vice versa)
✅ Post numbers at the road AND on the house
✅ Trim bushes/trees blocking the view
✅ Light it up! Reflective or illuminated numbers help us find you at night 🌙

When you call 911, we're racing against the clock. Clear house numbers help us get to you faster. 💙

Did You Know? A Look Inside What SMCAS Does 🚑

When you call 911, an ambulance shows up — but what actually happens next?

Our crews are trained to handle far more than just a ride to the hospital. On any given call, SMCAS paramedics and EMTs may:

🩺 Assess and stabilize patients on scene
💉 Start IVs and administer emergency medications
❤️ Perform CPR and use defibrillators for cardiac emergencies
🫁 Manage airways and provide oxygen support
🩹 Treat traumatic injuries from accidents and falls
📡 Communicate with hospital staff to prepare for arrival
🚨 Transport patients safely and quickly to the right facility

Every call is different, but our goal is always the same: get the right care to you, fast. 💙

🚨 AMBULANCE ETIQUETTE: When We're at Your Neighbor's

Seeing an ambulance on your street can be alarming — here's how to be a good neighbor when we're there for someone else:

DO:
✅ Give us space — stay back and let us work
✅ Keep kids and pets inside or at a safe distance
✅ Move your vehicle if it's blocking our path
✅ Respect their privacy — it's not the moment for pictures or video

DON'T:
❌ Crowd the scene to see what's happening
❌ Block the street or driveway with your car
❌ Assume the worst and spread rumors before you know the facts
❌ Approach the crew with questions while they're working

A little space and privacy goes a long way for a neighbor having a hard day. 💙
