Choosing toys for ages 1–3 doesn’t have to mean buying more—it means choosing better. 🧡

The best toys are the ones that grow with your child, spark curiosity, and encourage meaningful play. At this age, children are learning through exploration, repetition, movement, and hands-on experiences. A well-chosen toy can support language, problem-solving, fine motor skills, creativity, and independent play—all while keeping them engaged.

Quality toys may feel like a bigger investment upfront, but they often last longer, hold attention better, and can be used in multiple ways over time. Budget-friendly doesn’t always mean cheap—and expensive doesn’t always mean better. The goal is finding toys with purpose.

Children stay engaged with toys when they:
✨ Match their developmental stage
✨ Encourage open-ended play
✨ Offer opportunities for repetition and mastery
✨ Can be used in different ways as they grow

We put together our top toy box essentials for ages 1–3, plus helpful tips for choosing toys that are worth the investment. Save this for your next toy haul! 🤍

The words we use with our children become the voice they carry with them for years to come. 🧡

While “good job” is always encouraging, specific praise helps children build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self. When we recognize their effort, kindness, creativity, and perseverance, we teach them that who they are matters just as much as what they achieve.

A few thoughtful words can shape a child’s entire day—and sometimes even their future.

✨ Today’s challenge: Pick one phrase from this list and say it to your kiddo today. Then come back and tell us which one you chose and how they responded. We’d love to hear those special moments. 🫶🏽

Consistency builds trust, and trust makes learning possible 🧡

Tips:
• Give clear directions, not questions when it is not a choice
• Use calm and neutral tone
• Allow a brief pause before prompting
• Use the least intrusive prompt needed avoid adding too many words or repeating yourself
• Follow through consistently

The goal is to help kiddos be successful by making expectations clear and support predictable. Follow-through and consistency are what build trust, reduce challenging behavior, and get results over time.✅

The early years of a child’s life are when the brain develops the fastest — which means support during this time can make a life-changing difference. Early intervention helps children strengthen communication, social-emotional skills, independence, play skills, and confidence in ways that carry into everyday life. ✨

✴️What may look like a “small” milestone to others can mean everything to a family:
• saying a first word
• making eye contact
• trying a new food
• learning to express emotions
• playing alongside peers
• gaining independence

These moments are powerful, and they deserve to be celebrated.🧡

At Grow With Me, we believe every child deserves support that is compassionate, individualized, and rooted in connection. Because progress happens best when children feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow at their own pace.

The earlier support begins, the greater the opportunity for growth — not just for today, but for a child’s future.🧡✨

“Use your words” phrase many people say automatically — but for some children, especially nonverbal, or speech-delayed children, it can actually create more frustration instead of connection. 🧡

Communication is so much more than spoken language. Children communicate through gestures, body language, AAC devices, signs, facial expressions, behaviors, and even stimming. When we only value verbal speech, we risk dismissing the child’s actual attempt to communicate.

For many children, moments of dysregulation are not the time they can easily access language. Their brain may be overwhelmed, anxious, sensory overloaded, or struggling to process emotions. Telling them to ‘use your words’ in those moments can unintentionally increase shame, pressure, and stress.

Instead of demanding speech, we can support communication by:
✨ Modeling calm language
✨ Offering visual or AAC support
✨ Validating emotions first
✨ Giving processing time
✨ Recognizing behavior as communication

Child development is not about forcing children to communicate the way we prefer — it’s about helping them feel safe, understood, and supported in the way they communicate best. 🫂🧡

Watching a child grow into who they are meant to be is such a beautiful thing.🧡✨

Every child has something special within them, and with patience, support, and encouragement, that light can shine brighter and brighter. The small moments matter just as much as the big ones, and every step forward is worth celebrating.✨
