Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a good time to learn a little more about breast cancer and your own risk. 🩷
Here are two facts worth knowing:
1. Some breast cancers are linked to inherited gene changes. Changes in genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 can increase a person’s risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers. Genetic counseling and testing may be recommended for people with certain personal or family histories.
2. Men can develop breast cancer, too. Although breast cancer is much more common in women, men can also develop it. A new lump, swelling, skin changes, ni**le changes, or unusual discharge should be discussed with a healthcare provider.
Knowing your family history and understanding your personal risk can help you make informed decisions about your health.
Talk with your healthcare provider if you have questions about breast cancer risk, genetic testing, or screening. 🧬
