🗣️ What is AAC, and how can it help children with autism communicate?

For some children with autism, spoken language may be challenging. AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) can offer additional ways to share ideas, make requests, express emotions, and participate in everyday interactions.

Whether through pictures, gestures, signs, or a communication device, these tools can help create more opportunities for connection.

AAC does not have to replace speech. It can provide another way for a child to communicate while supporting their overall communication development.

A great teammate is someone who makes time for others, even when they have plenty on their own plate. That's something we truly appreciate about Carrie!

“Which one do you want?” can be more meaningful than we realize 💙

Everyday choices give children with autism opportunities to communicate their preferences and take a more active role in their routines. Whether your child uses words, gestures, pictures, signs, or AAC, what matters is giving them a meaningful way to express what they want.

With support from ABA therapy, children can work on skills that help them participate more independently in everyday routines at home, school, and in the community.
