Bob was born July 21, 1933, to James Casper Vernon and Velda May Harger Vernon in Oberlin, Kansas. When he was two years old his parents moved from their small farm near his father’s home which was on the South side of Oberlin to a larger farm that they had bought located on the North side of Oberlin along the Sappa Creek where he lived until he was fourteen years old. Then his family moved two miles up the road to take ownership of his mother’s parents’ farm.

Robert attended a one-room schoolhouse two miles from his home through the eighth grade, then graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1951. He spent a year helping his father on the farm before enrolling at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. While there, he received his draft notice to report for duty during the Korean war. Once discharged, he returned to Kansa State and received a bachelor’s degree in dairy science and another degree in engineering. Bob worked for many years all over the Midwest and then went into business as a consultant. His company was CIP (clean in place) which designed and maintained cleaning systems for dairy and egg cracking facilities. His co-workers...

Gerald “Jerry” Klinetobe, 76, of Niobrara, Nebraska, passed away on August 30, 2026. He was born on June 26, 1950, in Orchard, Nebraska, to William and Tillie Klinetobe.

Jerry was a proud United States Army veteran and a hardworking diesel mechanic. He was a man who knew the value of hard work, but if you asked him what mattered most in life, it was never the work, the things he owned, or the money he made. It was his family.

Jerry loved his family with his whole heart. His wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family were his greatest joy. He cherished the time they spent together and found happiness in the simple moments—the conversations, the laughter, the teasing and jokes, the fishing trips, the camping trips, and just being together. Those ordinary moments became some of the most precious memories his family will carry forever.

If Jerry wasn’t working, chances were he was outside. He loved fishing, camping, woodworking, working in the yard, and gardening. Fishing held a special place in his heart, and some of...
